The purpose of the Scout Spirit "Stars" program is simply to highlight individual Scouts who have gone above and beyond the usual call of duty via an exemplary display of Scout Spirit. The individual Scout might take personal initiative to help out a fellow Scout (or Scouts) to inspire or learn new skills, or he may provide broader service to his school or community, to the surprise and delight of troop leaders, mentors or teachers.
The SPL, SM Staff or other adult leaders may nominate any Scout for this special recognition. The Scoutmaster will review and ultimately make the final determination whether the Scout shall be recognized as a SCOUT SPIRIT STAR.
Patrick McGrath - At the October 21 troop meeting, Patrick put the EDGE method into high gear by assisting with knots and lashings instruction. Patrick zero'd in on a patrol of younger scouts who were really struggling. Those Scouts eventually came away having had a great time and while learning many new skills.
Alex Burns - As a guest during the Pack 75 Battleship Overnight, November 2-3, Alex stepped up voluntarily to serve breakfast to hundreds of Cub Scouts and their parents. His service in turn inspired a number of reluctant cub scouts to also step forward and help with the breakfast. The team worked diligently and cheerfully for more than 90 minutes and didn't have breakfast themselves until after everyone else had been served.
